2ch thread: I think I’ll visit a secluded train station, so how about this Koboro station I’ve been hearing about?

This thread is a recount of a journey to one of Japan’s most secluded train stations.
(Also known as a Hikyou station).

It took place in July 2011, in Hokkaido, Japan.

Koboro Station　(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koboro_Station)

The station is sandwiched between 2 long tunnels, and is surrounded by a steep cliff, and the sea (The Uchiura Bay). Because of this, the area is only accessible by train or boat. It is known as one of the more secluded Hikyou Stations, and is usually visited by fishers, and train fans.

Also known as the Headless Kannon
In the year 1666, the monk, Enkuu created a Buddhist sculpture in these caves.
A monk in ascetic practice, he was attacked by a bear, and he hid behind his sculpture, and escaped danger. The sculpture, however, had it’s head bitten off, and was named the “Headless Kannon” ever since.
In the year 1894, it was said that Izumi Toubee restored the sculpture’s head.
Festivals are held on the 16th and 17th of September.

If you’re going to Koboro station, I strongly recommend that you visit the sea too. It’s beautiful.

And it might be better to go when the weather is dry.

There are many bugs in summer, so bring some bug repellant.

There’s no reception at the station platform, but there was reception at the beach.

I think I’ll go again in autumn to see the red and orange leaves.

When that time comes, I hope to bring a cute girl with black hair with me.
